This guide gives you an overview of our Secondary offer for 2025-2026 and explains who exactly each programme is suitable for. We hope this helps you plan your professional development for the upcoming academic year.
Participants will be involved in either Work Groups, Programmes, Communities or Targeted Support according to the experience offered to teachers and schools. However, all offer fully funded, high-quality professional development, and the chance for participants to become effective teachers of maths.

For: Maths Subject Leaders. Work with an Assistant Maths Hub Lead and a network of other local Heads of Department to support the implementation of your maths departments developmental aims such as implementing teaching for mastery across entire departments more effectively. Every school should take part to fully develop the leadership skills of the subject lead and give focused time to work on department developmental aims.
Bespoke support for schools who feel they would benefit from support that the other programmes would not provide.
These work groups employ a cascade model so that one or two teachers from a department attend a focused work group who then work with the whole team to share and embed the learning from the work group. This is supported by the subject leader who receives input on the same themes as part of the subject leaders community.

For: Only available to schools which have previously taken part in Fluency in multiplicative reasoning year 7.
Focused on the transition from primary to secondary by looking at the pedagogies used in the phases and aligning techniques and expectations. For: Teachers with responsibility for or teaching in year 7 and/or 8.

Supports the ongoing development of ECT’s subject specific pedagogy including understanding misconceptions, developing oracy and delivery of effective mathematics lessons For: ECTs in their second or third year of teaching
Specialist knowledge for teaching maths for non-specialists (EEF trial) supports non-specialist maths teachers so that they feel confident teaching mathematics and have the skills to teach effective lessons. This year the work group is part of the EEF trial so school needs to sign up by 30th June and the teacher needs to be teaching year 8 (note teacher name not required at time of sign up). For this year only this work group is funded. For: Non-specialists teaching maths
Supports the development of effective pedagogies to support the teaching of Core Mathematics, including the pre-release materials For: Teachers of Core Maths in at least their second year of teaching Core Maths, do not have to be maths specialists
Supports the development of effective pedagogies to support the teaching of A Level mathematics, including understanding misconceptions, developing oracy and delivery of effective mathematics lessons For: Teachers of A Level maths
