Join the Regional ITT Providers Project: Shape the Future of Maths Initial Teacher Training
Are you ready to lead the way in transforming maths education?
If you’re part of a DfE-accredited Initial Teacher Training (ITT) provider and responsible for leading maths provision, this is your opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and make a real impact.
Who can get involved?
All DfE-accredited ITT providers are invited to nominate a lead participant in maths. Each nominated individual will work alongside a representative from their local Maths Hub leadership team to drive meaningful change in maths education across the region.
What’s involved?
Become part of a dynamic, regional professional learning community. Together, ITT maths leads and Maths Hub leaders will:
Enhance and align maths provision with the principles of Teaching for Mastery
Collaboratively review and refine organisational policies, curriculum design, and mentor support
Explore how mastery-informed lesson design and feedback can be embedded into ITT programmes
What will you gain?
A stronger, more coherent approach to maths provision across your ITT programme
Deepened expertise in Teaching for Mastery and its classroom application
Valuable regional collaboration with fellow ITT providers and Maths Hub experts
Commitment
Participants are expected to engage fully in all scheduled online and regional sessions and actively share insights with colleagues. Participants in these regional communities will be expected to attend three national (online) workshops, coordinated by the NCETM team. In addition, participants will collaborate as a regional community for two half-days led by their Regional Community Leads. Dates for these will be added early 2025-2026. The focus of these communities is to work with Maths Hubs to know how best to support trainee teachers to align their classroom practice with the principles of teaching for mastery.
What is the Cost?
There is no cost to participate. This project is fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme, making it completely free for all participating institutions.
Bookings are closed for 2025-2026, please register your interest for 2026-2027 via the link below:
ITT Mentoring Toolkit
We have put together a mentoring toolkit for primary and secondary mathematics.
The tasks are designed to be used with ITT and ECT colleagues and also with whole mathematics teams. They support a deep focus on core mathematical ideas KS1 to KS4 and contribute to the development of pedagogical intelligence in the teaching of mathematics. .
