Early Career Teachers Phase 1 Oxfordshire – Bookings now open

This project offers support tailored to the needs of Early Career Teachers to develop as teachers of maths. It is anticipated that participants will carry on into Phase 2 after completing Phase 1, so this project can be viewed as a two year commitment.

‘This Work Group will enable participants to develop specialist knowledge for teaching mathematics – with a particular focus on number sense and place value. Experiences will include:

– Developing key subject knowledge linked with progressing children’s understanding of concepts linked to early number and place value

– Observing pupils’ mathematical learning within a teaching for mastery approach

– Developing understanding of typical progression in linked learning, which can be adapted and used in school with children

Teachers involved will be afforded opportunities to network, including with others teaching in the same phase.

In addition to engaging teachers, the Work Group intends to give mentors (where applicable) the opportunity to connect with the programme. This will come through an introductory briefing at the beginning of the Work Group, so planned work can be outlined, plus the invitation to join a later workshop alongside their linked teacher(s).’
