Joe Burbank qualified as a primary school teacher 13 years ago after a degree in Business and Management and is currently the Assistant Head Teacher at Stockham Primary School in Wantage. He played a pivotal role in its recent Ofsted Outstanding judgement (March 2019).
Joe has taught extensively across Key Stage 2, and has also developed an in depth knowledge of effective learning and teaching in Early Years/Key Stage 1 through his work as a Leading Maths Teacher (LMT) in Oxfordshire schools. He qualified as a Maths Specialist Teacher (MaST) in 2012. In his LMT role, he has supported a number of local schools as they developed consistent maths practice making a demonstrable and positive difference to pupil outcomes.
More recently, Joe has supported schools and teachers across both Key Stage 1 and 2 in Oxfordshire by planning and running work groups for the (Berkshire, Buckingshire and Oxfordshire) BBO Maths Hub. In addition, he has led the successful development of Mathematics Mastery throughout Stockham Primary School while being part of a BBO Maths Hub Teacher Research Group (TRG).
Joe has extensive leadership and management experience through his work as the Maths Subject Leader and Assistant Head Teacher: he also took on the role of Acting Head Teacher at Stockham for one year. He has successfully completed his NPQH (2016) as well as the NCETM Professional Development Lead qualification (2018).
