Manipulatives allow students to see the structure of mathematics enabling them to understand why our algorithms work and adapt their learning accordingly. They are effective at all levels of secondary school in terms of developing an understanding of mathematics.
The aim of this work group is to:
- train secondary teachers in the use of a range of manipulatives to a standard so that manipulatives can be used confidently in lessons
